Unknown house on sloped lot
Single Family Residence
Springfield area
Griswold & Steele
Ralph Slate
This is an older house, maybe around 1850. It has a brick foundation, but is unusual in that it is built on a sloped lot, with the lower level exposed.
The rural setting, coupled with the steep hill, suggests that this house could be in a town surrounding Springfield, rather in the city itself.
If you zoom in to the house in the background on the right side, you will see chickens in a coop.
The windows on the left part of the house are six-over-six, yet the windows on the right part are 2-over-2, suggesting that the right portion could be an addition, and perhaps the main house was older than 1850.
